After the Challenger Dan Henderson suffered a partial tear in his MCL, he couldn’t finish his training for the title shot. Dana White offered the fight to the big mouth Chael Sonnen with only eight days prep before another title shot. Sonnen didn’t blink and said yes to the challenge. The champion spoiled the hopes and dreams for all of Sonnen’s fans. Jones declined.
“I just don’t know why he won’t fight me next Saturday,” Sonnen said in an interview on “SportsCenter.” “I mean, what else does he have to do? Maybe a wine tasting at a local race track or something I haven’t heard about.” by Chael Sonnen
Lyoto Machida was offered the fight and refuse the title shot on September 22 at UFC 152.Now John Jones is scheduled to fight Vitor Belfort. Vitor will take Machida’s place at UFC 152.
Jones didn’t like the prospects of Lyoto as his next fight, but he agreed to fight.
“I don’t want to fight Lyoto Machida,” Jones said. “He was my lowest pay-per-view draw of last year. No one wants to see me fight Lyoto Machida. I don’t want to fight Lyoto again. Lyoto is high-risk and low-reward.” by John Jones
