The featherweight fight between Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar is going to have to wait. Aldo has suffered a foot injury during training and will no longer be able to compete at UFC 153. Additionally, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has withdrawn from his final UFC fight against Glover Teixeira. Dana White did not want a repeat of the chaos and disappointment that was, or rather wasn’t, UFC 151.
White has revamped the main card of UFC 153, scheduled to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Luckily a few Brazilian fighters were more than happy to step up and fill the card. The main event will now be a 3 round light heavyweight bout between Anderson “the Spider” Silva and former Ultimate Fighter finalist Stephen Bonner. Fabio Maldonado will replace “Rampage” Jackson. Jackson has plans of returning to Octagon in the future for one more fight. Maldonado will be squaring off against a fellow Brazilian, Glover Teixeira. A sixth fight has been added to the original 5 fight main card. The sixth fight will be a heavyweight bout between the legendary Minotaur Nogueira and former Indiana University wrestler Dave Herman.
